Clonsilla, Dublin 15
The site was originally a Development Contractor (E. Nuzum & Son) Yard & Plant Depot. In 1998/99, Fingal County Council proposed an Area Action Plan (AAP) for the Clonsilla Area which included the Townland of Portersfield and this site.
An overall catchment area of 150 acres was constructed in the AAP. A new train station for Clonsilla was to be provided as well as a New Link Road to the N3.
A large tract of Public Open Space was to be provided on the outskirt to the AAP. The land at Portersfield was eventually zoned A Residential, with a Higher Density of 45 units to the HA.
We provided for a mixture of dwelling types of terraced houses, duplex units and an apartment block with underground car parking. The total number of units was 122 No. A two-storey mixed childcare facility was also provided on site.
A mixture of traditional design and a modern contemporary architecture was design for the estate. A private entrance with large Private Open Spaces gives the development a sense of place as a small hub in a larger scale Development Action Area. The development was enormously successful both financially and aesthetically.
